Debilal, a renowned chau artist of the district was born on 22nd October 1960 in the village Kharipahari of Barabazar Block. His father late Shibu Karmakar was one of the finest dhol player in the district. Debilal started his basics from his father and gradually involved in this profession as well. His father introduced him first in the stage show program when Debilal was 13 years of age. After this programme he was being praised by many and became popular at his young age. At the same time he received invitation from Dr. Sukhendu Biswas, Founder of Royal Chau Academy –Balarampur to associate and perform as a dhol player in his Chau team. At this time he took the privilege to perform in abroad too. He Visited Russia In 1999. Thailand in 2000, Belgium, France, Lithonia, Spain, Greece, Poland in 2006, Iran, Iraq, Tehran in 2009, London, Scotland, America, Newyork, Washington , Brazil in the year of 2011.
